I Have a Fondness …

I have a fondness for breaking apart
A fascination with the fragile
The delicate dance of hearts
Walking unsteadily on the edge …
In love …

I have a fondness for breaking apart
At times it seems
Love’s other name is
Broken hearts …
An echo of longing …
A symphony of cracks …

I have a fondness for breaking apart
In love, I find
A beauty in the fracture,
In the spaces …
Where light seeps through the wounds
Where the raw and the real collide
In a blaze of truth and tenderness …

I have a fondness for breaking apart
It’s a mosaic of
Shattered dreams
Pieced together with hope …
A courage of feeling
The audacity of connection …

I have a fondness
For the breaking …
For the way love demands vulnerability …
For the way it strips us bare …
For the way all its flaws are revealed
I have a fondness
For my unguarded heart
Breaking apart …

For in the breaking,
We find the depth of love
The resilience of the beautiful soul …
The beauty of a heart
That dares to love
Even knowing it might break …
That’s how I have a fondness
For breaking apart …

  1. A lovely poem and lovely sentiment, Roksana. It makes me think of the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Basically, it means to repair with gold. It’s a tradition there to repair broken pottery with gold lacquer, which ends up making the piece even more beautiful.

The same thing happens with broken hearts.

    1. Thank you dear Richard! Your comments are always so thoughtful and it seems to me that there’s more to it to contemplate and I appreciate this a lot.

I love the analogy to Kintsugi. It’s a beautiful reminder that our experiences, even the painful ones, can make us stronger and more beautiful in the end, as it is said that there is beauty in the broken …

I do pottery. So sometimes it happens that while drying, as it’s delicate phase, some pots/ vases might crack, even broken somewhere, and then we mend it sometimes with damp sponge to soften and soothe it or using the special clay for that.

I always loved this Japanese art – Kintsugi
Just like the repaired pottery, we carry our stories with us, and they add to our unique beauty 😊

Smile and let’s embrace the glorious mess that we all are in some way or other –

A very good day to you!
It’s raining here, with a storm, strong wind, and a bit of a chill in the air!

      1. Thank you for the kind words! And I’m jealous…I’ve always been interested in pottery but I don’t have the skills. You’ll have to share photos of your work.

I hope the weather improves for you and that the rains bring up fresh flowers when the sun returns.

      1. it truly is. Thankful for this site. This is the only place where i can write down my personal, private thoughts without anyone laughing at me. I know my imagination is my escape and I very much need it – for my health and sanity.
