Amy, have you tried supplements for sleep. I wont ever tried rx for insomnia but i might try a natural supplement. I follow a group/lady on facebook who gives good advice for relaxing the brain. She recommends supplements she’s tried and others give feedback on her posts. We share what we’ve tried.
Hello sweetheart!
Trust me, I don’t have insomnia. Lately, I’ve just been feeling a bit restless inside, so my sleep has been broken up with too many interruptions. I really miss getting those long, uninterrupted hours of sleep.
But I understand insomnia can definitely be tough.
No, I don’t take melatonin.
I don’t like green tea, only sometimes with lemon!
What other ways do you usually wind down for a good night’s sleep? I’d love to hear!
Hi, honey pie! I am sorry to learn you’ve developed this restless vibe. Isnt this leaving you with other quirky symptoms, like moodiness, upset stomach, etc?
There is a supplement called theanine that i’ve read is good for sleep. never tried it.
I dont like green tea either but it has gaba which relaxes. I suppose i could add some sugar and then it’d be great. But, i eat dark chocolate too and that has gaba. Sometimes I drank a hot cocoa. And I take a magnesium pill which relaxes the muscles.
As for me, I have been sleeping better than ever lately and I always always read much before i get drowsy.
Whatever you do, dont eat simple carbs. Those will energize you and keep you up. Complex carbs and fats are good with your dinner or later if needed.
Hey Stefie! It sounds like you have some good options for relaxation! I love dark chocolate and sometimes I have it. Well, seems like, hot cocoa and magnesium are great choice. It’s all about finding what works best for you.
Okay, I’ll keep that in mind and stick to complex carbs and fats. It’s always interesting to learn how different foods affect sleep.
I agree that a good night’s sleep makes such a difference. And to have a routine before your sleeping time makes it a lot better, specially reading before bed sounds like a relaxing routine. What are you currently reading?
Hi, Amy. I dont hardly read books anymore. And rarely do i watch movies. Mostly i read social media sites, I keep the tv on in the background so I can admire images but mostly because I cant read & keep track of a plot so i stick to reading . I do have a bunch of projects I need to be working on but right now I am not focused. Too much stress in my life to focus on deep topics and engage in anything complex. — Every few years my interests change and I’m sure I’ll go back to books but only on my kindle. — What are u currently reading?
my weak arms cant hold up books anymore. I am grateful for my limited capabilities. And for being able to at least exit the house once in a while when my health permits. It’s not ez being an ailing recluse but i’m thankful to be here to see today’s sunrise.
Oh dear! I’m sorry to hear that
Your resilience and gratitude in the face of challenges are truly inspiring …
It’s not easy to navigate such difficult circumstances, but your perspective on appreciating the small victories, like seeing the sunrise, is your strength
I’m here for you, and I’m glad you’re here to share this moment with me
I’m an insomniac, so I can relate to this. I’m up in the middle of the night reading or scribbling ideas for stories. I also have an elderly dog who tends to be up around the same time, so we often go outside in the dark to look at the stars together.
That sounds like such a peaceful and creative way to spend those sleepless nights, especially with your loyal companion by your side. There’s something comforting about having company under the stars. I love stargazing in the dark …
I hope you find some rest soon too—and maybe some inspiration for your stories while you’re at it!
I hope to get long hours of sleep soon
For now, I’m just too restless to do that.
