Someone’s Worth

We carry these ingrained ideas of what makes a ‘good appearance.’ But isn’t it harsh, even cruel, that people are so often judged by someone else’s idea of beauty, rather than who they really are?

As Oscar Wilde once said, ‘Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.’ Yet society pressures us to fit into molds, to measure up to standards we may not even believe in ourselves. We’re expected to align with others’ notions of what makes an acceptable appearance.

Why should someone’s worth be tied to the clothes they wear, the style they choose, or how they carry themselves? And isn’t it even more unjust when these judgments overlook the depth of a person’s inner being, their kindness, resilience, and unique spirit? How often do we truly see each other for who we are, beyond the layers of judgment, appearance, and expectation?

Can we be kind to each other as we’re?

  1. I think it’ll reach a point where people will see past layers… it was all an illusion, by the way. Appearances are just facades people put on themselves to hide their true selves. I think people become even more beautiful when they unleash their true inner selves with all cracks and flaws.
Such a wonderful message thanks for sharing.

  2. I agree it’s better to get to know someone rather than judge them on outward appearance. I think that oftentimes, a person’s appearance is based on how they see themselves, which isn’t necessarily who they really are. We can be weighed down by other’s perceptions of us.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Roksana.

  3. True. Beauty is subject to the illusions in the eyes of the beholder. I find that some ppl radiate beauty through their voice, their intellect, their smile, kindness, character and their deeds, too.

    1. I completely agree! True beauty goes so much deeper than appearances

Someone’s voice, warmth, or kindness can light up a room, it feels amazing! It’s those qualities that truly leave a lasting impression …

      I believe so too!
      Thanks dear Stefie ♥️
