When we’re older,
let’s meet every Sunday at 4,
in that cute little cafe we love.
Let’s laugh at our foibles,
our mishaps and then,
release our mistakes to above.
We can share our new wrinkles,
each hair that’s turned grey,
and marvel at how we have grown.
We can both reminisce
on the lives that we’ve led,
and be grateful for each day we’ve known.
When we’re older,
let’s meet by the tree in the park,
the one where the blossom grows yearly,
we can share some nice food
and toast with a drink,
remembering those we loved dearly.
We will not give a thought
to the youth we have lost,
for we see so much worth in the change,
we won’t feel the rush of a fast-ticking clock,
for we know time is ours to arrange.
When we’re older,
let’s meet every Sunday at 4,
in that cute little cafe we love.
Let’s be wowed by how
we have weathered this life,
no regrets, we were just here to love.
When We’re Older
A Poem by Donna Ashworth
Very nice! yes, what a gift this elderly mood presets, if only younger ones could receive more of it.

Feeling good to bag your nice words for this blog post.
Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.” – Franz Kafka
Wish everyone receive the experience of such magical mood.

Loved the poem. Since I am in my 80s, it is true. Each day is a gift and I wouldn’t want to waste it by not being grateful. All the best, Muriel

Dear Muriel, I’m so very happy to have you here in my blog post and grateful for your nice words.
As the time goes by fast, the value of things that are important in life becomes clear… and yes, it is important for all of us to be grateful for each day.
I love each moment of my each day.
Thanks once again.

I really enjoyed this post that seems to be about old friends, a much treasured gift. I enjoyed the rhythm and rhyme scheme, too. It seemed to have the rhythm of the rolling years.

Yes, the place was so beautiful, so beautiful that I think I can live there forever.
And then I read this poem on that day. I loved it so much. So I thought to use these mesmerising verses with my picture.
What if this place would be the cafe place when we’re older?
But oh no! I m already elderly Ha ha ha😊
These days, I find my father has become so old and I do not like that at all. I wish to be his little girlie all the time, but he has become a little old boy who doesn’t go anywhere and who sleeps all day long.
I wish to see my old age too but I do not want to sleep all day like my Abbu.
I wish this place as my little cafe place. Won’t it be beautiful? I wish to meet here again in my old age.

A time to keep silence and a time
to speak….
Ahh! That’s the thing… I can’t keep silent… I talk talk talk… and then I write write write…
Tell me Carlos, ‘What’s better?
To talk or to write?’

Good question! Thank you, Roksana!
I like it when blogs allow me to edit comments because I can correct, add to, or delete what I’ve written.
Thus, it is safer and free to express my point of view.
Confession! I regret a lot of things I spoke about, and I can’t erase them. Generally, offensive and unnecessary things, which solved nothing, and added nothing, only offended.
Here also fits the biblical teaching:
“But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay:
for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”
Matthew 5:37

So it’s better to write, edit, check, correct, and then re-write again, and think, and then share or not share.
