Feigning

I walk into the light with a smile
Borrowed from yesterday’s strength
People greet the version of me
Who knows how to nod, how to sparkle …

Behind my teeth
Grief folds itself into silence
I carry it like a hidden bruise, tender, unseen
A quiet weight I’ve learned to balance …

  1. Lovely poem, Roksana. It’s a good reminder that we never know what’s really going on in another person’s life, what grief they may be carrying.

I hope you are having a creative weekend, my friend.

  2. pseudo happiness is best, dear one. When we fake it, our brain sorta gets tricked into semi-believing it…and the alternative is to wallow in our grief which only makes the brain despair further. I enjoyed reading this but not thrilled to learn u r masking the pain — but do your eyes reveal it? Take care and know you are wished hugs from my heart!

  3. Awesome poetic language.
But I find some hidden sadness behind. Where there is light, there is love 💟
Maybe love is not visible right now, but it is there. Like Sun 🌞 and clouds.
    Beautiful ❤️
