Sakin

How alluring it is to see you in dreams
How elegant it is to feel your silence drift in
Quiet as breath between words
Anchoring everything without demand …

I had a good laugh reading your comment, A!

So, let me tell the story!

I love ice cream, though I haven’t had one in quite a while.

There’s this coffee shop called The Wagon on Wanstead High Street that we often pass by. My son usually grabs an iced latte from there and always asks if I’d like something too. I always respond with a cheerful, “Nooo!”

I do enjoy coffee, just not regularly, and besides, I can easily make it at home. But the shop also sells ice cream. One day, when my son asked again if I wanted anything, maybe even ice cream, I surprised myself and said, “Okay then, ice cream.”

They only had one flavour left: vanilla. Normally, that wouldn’t be my choice; I’d go for chocolate or butterscotch instead. But that day, I simply said, “Vanilla will do.”

The flavour was just okay, but on that day, it felt wonderfully refreshing.
